When I started Sarah Taggart, P.C., I was not handed a single eviction file. I was a solo practitioner with no clients, no roadmap for running a business, and a healthy amount of determination. I filed my very first eviction for $75. At the time, that $75 paid my office phone bill for the month, and that felt like a win. From there, it was what most startups look like in the early days. Quick decisions, long hours, and a lot of instinct. I learned by doing. I adjusted constantly. And I made a quiet commitment that every client who trusted me would feel like they were the only client I had. Year over year, that approach worked. The firm grew. The work expanded across Alabama. I had the opportunity to work with some exceptional clients and build something that, over time, became more than just a law practice. I have often said, only half joking, that this firm is my firstborn child. It has required that level of attention, investment, and care.

By 2024, it became clear that the firm had outgrown the structure I originally built for it. What started as a solo practice needed more support, more capacity, and more talent to continue doing the work at the level our clients expect. That realization led to one of the more meaningful transitions in the firm’s history.

I was joined by attorney Holly Ray, and shortly after, attorney Chris Booth.

That moment is both rewarding and a little bittersweet. Growth is the goal for any solo practitioner, and bringing on talented attorneys is a sign that the firm is moving in the right direction. At the same time, it changes the dynamic. It shifts the identity from something built entirely by one person to something that is now shared, strengthened, and expanded by a team. And with that shift comes a change that reflects where we are headed. Effective May 1, 2026, our firm will no longer operate as Sarah Taggart, P.C. We will become Taggart Law, P.C.

This is not a step away from what built the firm. It is a step toward what it is becoming. I am incredibly proud of what I have built from that first $75 eviction -, and I am incredibly excited about what comes next.
